As the photo contest goes by and most countries ended upload campaigns, time comes to organize images. Many things are to be arranged by local organizers — sorting out ineligible photos, adding categories / templates, correcting mistakes. These things may sound trivial at first glance but are really helpful afterwards.

Our dear contributors are encouraged to add meaningful descriptions to their files if they didn’t provided them while uploading and there is no autocomplete available. To do this, user only needs to find edit button at the top of the file page and write down a few words after “description”.

27 days, 66 822 photos – that’s all about Wiki Loves Earth 2015. Just 5 days are left before the end of the contest and 4 246 photos to break the record of  WLE 2014 and pass the mark of 71 067 photos.

So what do we have for now? There are no changes with  the top-5 countries in the contest. Germany, Pakistan, Ukraine, Brazil and Russia are still the leaders of WLE 2015. For the first time from the beginning of the contest the leader has changed.  Germany has uploaded the biggest number of photos and took the first place in the country race.

Apparently spring has finally come and the activity of contestants in the second half of May increased. WLE 2015 got a lot of pictures of green fields, sunny valleys, flowers and herbs.

These days we are in the middle of the WLE contest. Though we have two extra weeks before the end, right now its clear that audience has great interest in the topic and we have very talented photographers among our participants.

Over 20 counties are taking part in the contest. Over 35 000 photos were uploaded since the start of the WLE 2015 and we looking forward to get much more.

International team is very pleased with the activity of WLE “newbies” – Pakistan, Uruguay and Thailand.

Pakistan is the absolute leader on number of uploaded photos from the very first day of the contest showed us the great verity of nature landscapes, seasons and wild life.

The set of rules for the international part of the Wiki Loves Earth 2015 contest.

To take part in Wiki Loves Earth contest, a submission should:

• Be self taken

  All entries must be original photographs uploaded by their authors. Photos uploaded by anyone else than author (even with permission) are not accepted.

• Be self uploaded during the contest period (May 2015);

  You are also welcome to submit photos you may have taken in the past. What matters is that photos must be uploaded during the contest period (1st May — 31st May)

• Be under a free license;
• Contain an identified natural monument / natural park / protected area etc.;

  Lists of eligible sites are published by each participating country.

• Be nominated through a national contest;
• Have at least 2Mpx.

WLE 2015 has just begun but the interest and activity of users is impressive. Such a fast and productive start looks very promising. The international team of WLE really happy that your photos spotted missing articles on Wikipedia and it’s encourages us to provide users with new materials and illustrate them with WLE 2015 shots. Today is the last competition day for Algeria, Germany, Ghana, India and the Netherlands! Last hours to contribute your photos to and to take part in competition in these countries’ contests!

Remember that Serbia will still have their site open until July 16 and Syria till August 1:)

The contest «Wiki Loves Earth» is closed at Andorra & Spain, Armenia & Nagorno-Karabakh, Austria, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Estonia, Macedonia, Nepal and Ukraine, and first results are coming.
